History of Saint Alban’s Episcopal Church
Saint Alban’s Church, founded in 1885, began as a mission meeting in the homes of its
original parishioners in the town of Norwood Park, a small community near Chicago.
A white-frame building was built on Northwest Highway a few years later.
In 1896 the building was moved to Nickerson and North West Circle Avenues with the
hope that it would be a small town neighborhood parish.  The town of Norwood Park
was eventually annexed into the ever-expanding city of Chicago.
A picturesque brick church was erected in 1928 at its present location on
North Avondale Avenue.
Currently, the lovely church with its attached parish office and rectory is set in an
English Rose Garden and Shakespeare Garden.
A vital, welcoming congregation offers all who enter here the warmth of an
English country parish in the midst of a great city.

The people of Saint Alban’s Church invite you to worship, pray and
serve with us in our loving, supportive community.
